AXIOMTEK, one of leading applied computing platform providers, announced the release of two ETX 3.0 compliant CPU modules, ETM830 and ETM820, with Intel® Core 2 Duo and Pentium® M processors respectively. In addition, the ETM830 is the first Intel® Core 2 Duo ETX 3.0 module in the world. ETX 3.0 standard module now includes faster SATA support while maintaining pin-to-pin compatibility with previous revisions. Our highly integrated and extremely compact computer-on-modules allows designers having advantages to create practical system baseboard that can accept previous, present and future ETX SoM (System on Module). With the most comprehensive features, these two modules are apparently fit for gaming solution, medical, human machine interface (HMI), and digital signage appliance (DSA) markets.
We are excited to work with Elo TouchSystems on this opportunity. The combination of our design and audio expertise and Elo’s breakthrough APR touch technology provides an innovative, ultra-low-power, reliable solution for the expanding touch screen market - said Michel De Mey, senior director, hearing and audio solutions at AMI Semiconductor.
AMI Semiconductor (AMIS) and Tyco Electronics’ Elo TouchSystems announced they have entered into a joint development agreement to create an integrated circuit (IC) solution. The solution will enable Elo to port its Acoustic Pulse Recognition (APR) touch technology to small, hand-held and mobile devices commonly found in consumer electronics (including cell phones, PDAs, UPMCs), industrial hand-held devices, hand-held medical devices, NAV devices, white goods, portable gaming devices, and signature capture devices.
Most ATCA handles in the industry have several small components that need to be assembled, which can be tricky and time-consuming. The Elma ATCA handles are one piece, greatly reducing assembly time, which can be a hidden cost. Assembly time is one of the biggest complaints of ATCA board vendors who use various vendors’ handles. Further, the handle’s alignment pin is also part of the handle mold, which makes it much more sturdy and increases drop-test survivability.

Elma Electronic Inc., a global manufacturer of electronic packaging products, has announced a 2nd Generation AdvancedTCA (ATCA) handle that does not require assembly. The one-piece handle simply has two screws to attach it to the panel/PCB.
The Elma ATCA handle is engaged/disengaged with a unique slide-motion solution. This prevents the handle to being accidentally tripped or bumped into and broken. The slide-motion switch pops the handles open about 30 degrees and activates the micro-switch. This allows the user to grab the handle easily and maximize leverage.
