SMSC announced the USB3750 and USB3740, two products offering the latest advancements in Hi-Speed USB 2.0 connectivity. These newest additions to SMSC’s family of industry-leading Hi-Speed USB connectivity products are designed for portable devices and offer a compelling USB solution for mobile battery powered applications.

The latest mobile devices, with their reduced size and minimal number of connectors, enable a single port of connectivity for transferring USB data and USB charging. SMSC’s low-power USB3750 Port Protection and Detection device is specifically designed for mobile embedded applications where a shared USB connection is required. Leveraging SMSC’s RapidCharge Anywhere™ functionality, the USB3750 can be used to seamlessly provide USB Battery Charging detection as well as detect industry standard SE1 type chargers. The device provides system VBUS protection and offers over-voltage and under-voltage lock-out features for system voltage customization. The USB3750 includes an integrated Hi-Speed USB 2.0 switch allowing for two signal paths to connect to the single point of connectivity. The pin count has been minimized, making the device well-suited for mobile, battery-powered systems where power consumption, small package size, and minimal BOM are critical design requirements.
