Press Release:
Texas Instruments introduces SmartView™ emulator software for TI-30XS, TI-34 MultiView™ scientific calculators
Teachers using scientific calculators have a new way to demonstrate concepts to their math and science classes. Texas Instruments launches its first scientific calculator emulator, the TI-SmartView™ for TI-30XS and TI-34 MultiView™ scientific calculators.
TI-SmartView emulator software, which works with white boards and overhead projectors to project an interactive representation of the TI-30XS calculator and TI-34 MultiView calculator, gives teachers the capability to enhance their math and science instruction by visually illustrating important math concepts.
TI-SmartView™ for TI-30XS and TI-34 scientific MultiView calculators includes unique instructional capabilities, such as showing key presses on an interactive white board, screen captures and providing an enlarged image for the visually impaired. The key press history feature enables teachers to project key images and entire sequences to the class so students can more easily follow steps and stay on track with the lesson being taught. Preloaded demonstrations scripts allow pre-record key presses for automated playback during a lesson.
Teachers also can use the emulator to demonstrate the capabilities of either the TI-30XS or the TI-34 MultiView scientific calculators, which include viewing:
- calculations in common math notation
- up to four lines of display
- and performing fraction computations and explorations in a familiar textbook format
- scientific notation with the proper superscripted exponents
- and scrolling through previous entries
The TI-30 XS and TI-34 MultiView scientific calculators were designed with educator input for use in middle school math and science classes, including math, pre-algebra, algebra I & 2, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, general science, physics and biology.
The TI-SmartView for TI-30XS/TI-34 is available from instructional dealers and on TI’s website for $87.00. TI-SmartView emulator software also is available for the TI-73TM, TI-84 Plus TM Family and TI-Nspire TM lines of graphing calculators.
