Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) introduced the industry's first single-chip, interleaved power factor correction (PFC) control circuit for multi-kilowatt communications, server and industrial systems.
In June TI introduced the UCC28060, which is the first single-chip, transition-mode, two-phase PFC controller for 75- to 800-W applications, including consumer applications, such as digital TVs, personal computers and entry-level server platforms. Both the UCC28060 and UCC28070 give designers the best options as they design power systems that support power factor correction in end-equipment designs. The new UCC28070 two-phase, average current-mode controller allows designers to simplify power design, increase system reliability and achieve a greater than 0...

The new charger IC also features a programmable charge termination current feature which sends the device into sleep mode if the charging current dips below a pre-defined threshold. An integrated programmable charge timer can be used to shut down charging functions if a defective battery cell or a disconnection to the battery current path is detected..

The new ZPSA range of single output 20W, 40W and 60W AC-DC power supplies have been introduced by Lambda. All units within the new series boast a very low profile - the ZPSA20, for example, measures just 88.9 x 50.8 x 20.32mm - making them an ideal choice for applications ranging from video/audio routers, datacoms, point of sale equipment, low power LED signs and lighting. The ZPSA20 series is available in standard output voltage configurations from 3...
