Valens Semiconductor Announces Availability of HDBaseT-Compliant Valens VS100 Chipset

The Valens VS100™ Product Chipset is the first to be HDBaseT-compliant that transmits and receives uncompressed full HD digital video, audio, 100BaseT Ethernet, power and control through a single, standard 100m/328ft LAN cable. The Valens VS100 family consists of two chips: VS100TX (Transmitter), for DVDs, STBs and other HD source equipment and VS100RX (Receiver), for HDTVs, projectors and other display equipment. Two evaluation kits are also available, both designed to enable simplified, long-reach wired connectivity of uncompressed HD multimedia content, Ethernet, Controls and Power over a single standard 100m/328ft CAT5E (or superior) cable : VS100 2Play Evaluation Kit (EVK)
and VS100 5Play Evaluation Kit (EVK)…

Valens Semiconductor Announces Availability of World’s First HDBaseT(TM) Chipset

Valens to demonstrate uncompressed HD multimedia distribution at CES 2010 powered by its new Valens VS100 semiconductor product family

Valens Semiconductor, a leading provider of semiconductor products for the distribution of uncompressed HD multimedia content and inventor of HDBaseT technology, announced the availability of its HDBaseT-compliant Valens VS100 chipset and development kits.

According to Valens, these chipsets enable the convergence of uncompressed full HD digital video, audio, 100BaseT Ethernet, power and control through a single, standard 100m/328ft LAN cable.

This announcement comes a few days after Valens, LG Electronics, Samsung and Sony Pictures announced the cofounding of the HDBaseT Alliance to promote and standardize the HDBaseT(TM) technology.

The Valens VS100 family consists of two chips:

VS100TX (Transmitter): For DVDs, STBs and other HD source equipment.
VS100RX (Receiver): For HDTVs, projectors and other display equipment.

“The multimedia distribution market is one of the fastest growing markets today. However, despite the enormous demand for converged distribution of multimedia content from multiple sources to multiple receivers over longer distances, no simple solution has been available,” said Dror Jerushalmi, CEO of Valens. “Now, with our Valens VS100 semiconductor product family, users can have a simple, low cost solution that increases the distance of uncompressed HD multimedia content transfer, expands distribution, simplifies installations and lowers overall system cost, all using a single 100m/328ft standard LAN cable. Now that the HDBaseT alliance has been announced, and with the support of companies like LG, Samsung and Sony Pictures, we are sure that the Valens VS 100 product family will play a major role in driving this market.”

Valens will showcase uncompressed HD multimedia distribution at CES 2010 powered by the Valens VS100 semiconductor product family. This will take place at the Hilton Las Vegas, Suite #2330. Pre-registration is required.
